I sent out my March newsletter today, and I wanted to encourage people reading to sign up for my mailing list. It’s low-volume – you’ll receive a message each week for a month, then a monthly newsletter and the occasional special mailing. You can unsubscribe at any time.
I like to be in touch with people who are interested in this work, whether they are directly clients or not, in an ongoing way. It helps give a sense of continuity, even for those not doing regular Synergy sessions: each month, there’s an opportunity to check in, touch base with yourself, remember that you have a body, and return to it, even if just for a few minutes.
For some of us, it can feel easier just to be a head, thinking and reasoning and talking, carrying our bodies around like a suitcase, or having it carry us around, like a car. Realizing that we have bodies – and that our bodies are us – is not only difficult, it can be painful. Some of us don’t want increased body awareness, because our bodies cause us pain, fatigue, and heartache.
But the rewards that come with befriending our bodies are deeper and richer than the pains we sometimes have to go through to get there. The fullness of the lives we can live, when we know and feel that our feet are under us and keeping us solid, that our knees are helping navigate us, that our hips, with their turning radius, are helping us make decisions that are right for us, that our bellies are full of power, our hearts full of compassion, our throats full of song; that our shoulders are letting us reach out – then our heads can sit atop all of that, not like tyrants, but like happy sovereigns, guided and advised by the wise cabinet of the body.
